Changes to BEIS Ministerial Team

Following changes to the BEIS Ministerial team, portfolio splits are confirmed as follows:
 

The Rt Hon Kwasi Kwarteng MP
Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy
The Secretary of State has overall responsibility for BEIS. This includes: 
  • leading the government’s relationship with business
  • ensuring that the country has secure energy supplies that are reliable, affordable and clean
  • ensuring the UK remains at the leading edge of science, research and innovation. This includes responsibility for the UK’s membership of Horizon Europe, the Advanced Research & Invention Agency, the government’s Innovation Strategy, R&D people & culture strategy, the Office for AI and our European Space Agency membership.  
  • infrastructure, materials, critical minerals and the maritime, auto and aerospace sectors
  • Promoting investment and business investor relations as part of the government’s Investment Strategy.
