Household Energy Efficiency Statistics
Towards the end of each month the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero publish the Householf Energy Efficiency Statistics to show how effective (or otherwise) their various schemes and iitiative are and the impact they're having on improving domestic energy efficiency on the drive to new zero.

At the moment these numbers focus on the following:
  • The operation of the Energy Company Obligation (ECO)
  • The Green Deal (GD) in Great Britain
Key Headlines
The latest release was dated May 25th 2023 with reported key headlines as follows:
  • Around 3.7 million measures were installed in 2.5 million properties through the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) and the Green Deal (GD).
  • Since ECO3 closed at the end of March 2022, it is provisionally estimated that 111,900 measures were installed (including 25,600 ECO3 interim and around 86,300 ECO4 measures).
  • In quarter 1 (Jan to Mar) 2023, 42,300 measures were installed, a 36 per cent increase compared to quarter 4 (Oct to Dec) 2022.
  • Delivery under ECO4 has continued to increase, reaching 16,200 measures installed in March 2023.
  • For ECO4 (including ECO3 Interim) to the end of quarter 1 2023, other heating measures represented 44 per cent of measures installed (of which 96 per cent were heating controls), followed by loft insulation at 15 per cent.
ECO Trends
  • 3.6 million measures installed in 2.4 million households under ECO.
  • Since April 2022, 111,900 ECO3 Interim and ECO4 measures have been installed.
  • In quarter 1 (Jan to March) 2023, 42,300 measures were installed in 10,400 households, of which 8,600 received ECO measures for the first time
ECO Measures by Type
  • In quarter 1 (January to March) 2023, the most popular measure group was ‘other heating’, with 21,600 measures installed, the majority of which were heating controls.
  • The second most popular group was loft insulation, with 6,600 measures installed
ECO Household Characteristics
  • Under ECO, around 83 per cent of measures were installed in properties using gas.
  • The majority (around 71 per cent) of measures were installed in houses.
  • The most common tenure was owner-occupied, accounting for 70 per cent of households
ECO Regional 
  • Across ECO, nearly one fifth of ECO measures were installed in the North West of England.
  • To date, around nine per cent of households in Great Britain had an ECO measure installed
ECO Costs
  • The total ECO costs reported by suppliers (delivery and administrative) to the end of quarter 4 (October to December) 2022 were £6.4 billion.
  • The average cost of delivery under ECO3 was 24 pence per pound of lifetime bill savings, up to the end of quarter 1 2022
Green Deal
  • A total of 13,867 Green Deal Plans
  • Around 32 per cent of plans classified as ‘Completed’
  • In the last three months (February 2023 - April 2023) 87 plans were completed
Benefits Monitoring
  • Across ECO and GD schemes to the end of quarter 1 2022, the estimated lifetime carbon savings from these schemes is up to 60 MtCO2.
  • The associated estimated energy savings of these measures was up to 224,400 GWh.
  • Around 1.96 million Affordable Warmth ECO measures were installed up to the end of quarter 1 2022, which are estimated to deliver £19.3 billion worth of notional lifetime bill savings
