Cheltenham Borough Homes

This project was for the Structural Refurbishment of 36 Cornish Type I consisting of 4x two-storey blocks of flats containing 16 flats (2 leasehold) and 16 semi-detached/end terrace and 4 mid-terrace houses. All homes will be occupied for the duration of the works. 
 

The project involved removal of existing non-structural PRC concrete cladding panels, whilst retaining structural elements of the buildings (PRC columns, lintels and plinths), remedial concrete repairs, remedial steel support work as necessary to the various structural columns, lintels and plinths, including new block work skin. Reinstatement of external elevation walls with blockwork, fitted between the PRC columns. Reroofing works and the installation of an external wall insulation render system.

The above structural refurbishment works, were considered necessary and appropriate to reinstate the properties to the required standards. As it was not possible, prior to works commencing, to investigate the existing foundations, ground floor slab and main loadbearing external walls of properties, a degree of limited intrusive investigation has been necessary to identify the extent of the concrete repairs required.
